Travis Kelce is an ascending player for the Chiefs. He’s going to have to learn to hold onto the ball once he has it in his hands. He seems to cradle the ball more like a two year old with his teddy bear than he would the lost treasure of the Knights Templar. Once he understands that, the sky will be the limit for Kelce and he can be as great as he chooses to be. He gained 862 yards on 67 reception and had 5 TDs. Although this was actually Kelce’s second season with the Chiefs, it was his first full year of action and he gained more yards than Tony Gonzales did in his third season (849).

Fit for the Chiefs

Can you say, “Weapon Loaded?” Travis Kelce is set to be one of coach Andy Reid’s prominent playmakers in an offense that will feature the TE position as much as any offense out there. Since Kelce is going into the third year of his rookie contract you can expect him to be around for two more years minimum and and you can bet on a steady upward progression in his development. He will be someone to watch amongst all tight ends in the league.

With 1062 snaps this year Sean Smith had a career year. It’s not the number of those snaps that makes him great this season but the quality of those snaps. ProFootballFocus.com ranks Sean Smith as the 5th best cornerback in all of football. Only 4 players rank better than his +17.0 rating including Darrelle Revis, Richard Sherman, Vontae Davis and Cliff Harris Jr. but only one other player on the list has as many snaps as Smith. He should be seen as a high quality workhorse, instead of being typified by some of the smack talk some fans throw his way.

Fit for the Chiefs

Sean Smith’s contract has him locked up for another year and if he continues to play at this level during a contract year, he’ll be worth every penny. The Chiefs pass defense jumped from # 28 in 2013 to #2 in 2014 and Smith has to be seen as a big reason for the improved performance level.
