Let’s be honest: In all likelihood, the Kansas City Chiefs will play their last game of the season on Sunday.
If you’re the optimistic, “get ‘em next time, slugger” kind of fan, then that probably doesn’t mean much. More or less, the Chiefs just give you an excuse to sip your French-sounding, accent-marked beer and talk about that super leaf-blower deal you got at Home Depot (or whatever people like Ned Flanders do).
On the other hand, if you’re a Chiefs junkie, Week 17 means three months of ice scrapers, wind chill and hip-busting arm flails.
No matter how the finale pans out, Kansas City, by and large, exceeded expectations.
In Week 1, the team played like it just rolled out of bed, popped two aspirin and peeled a “kiss me, I’m Irish!” sticker off its shirt. Couple that with a wave of a season-ending injuries, and there was little cause for optimism. (“

However, through all the sacks, holes, bumps and bruises, the Chiefs are (somehow) clinging to playoff contention in the last week of the season.
Regardless of what Sunday has in store, all of us will be here two months from now; predicting free agency, overanalyzing wideouts and measuring every quarterback’s calf size. So prepare for the worst, hope for the best and, in the meantime, rummage through another batch of Chiefs wallpapers.
