3. Andy Reid’s Play Design Is Best in Class

Reid is making rival offenses look archaic.

Over the past three weeks, Kansas City has deployed “ghost” motion—faking end-arounds, creating decoys to distract inside linebackers—on a regular basis. And on a regular basis, Knile Davis has also cradled the handoff and rumbled through the heart of the defense for heaps of yardage.

Reid has also capitalized on a “mesh” concept featuring Anthony Fasano and Kelce. The two run shallow crosses at different depths, with Fasano trying to rub Kelce’s defender while No. 87 breaks underneath. And week after week, it keeps paying dividends.

The ‘stached savior arms Smith with pre-snap options as well.

Handfuls of players will be flooded with praise over the next week, and they all deserve it. But Reid made Belichick look like his understudy—give him his due.
