The biggest surprise here is the decision to keep by Cyrus Gray and Joe McKnight on the initial 53-man roster. McKnight had a solid game as a backup running back Thursday in Green Bay but he does not provide the same kind of special teams ability Cyrus Gray does as a blocker.
De’Anthony Thomas is listed as a running back but he is seeing more and more time as a wide receiver. So, yes, the Chiefs are technically keeping six listed running backs but they are really only keeping five true running backs.
