3. Jeff Allen Is Lining Up Everywhere

Left guard Jeff Allen is finding himself moving all around the offensive line today at practice, seeing snaps at left and right tackle in addition to his left guard duties. Allen was a right tackle in college before being moved inside on the pro level, so he does have some experience of working the edges.

It would appear Allen looked pretty good at tackle, too. Remember that Allen worked out with former NFL guard LeCharles Bentley over the offseason.

Allen is going to be the Chiefs left guard, no question about this. One would have to think today was about Andy Reid getting the chance to see what Allen could do at tackle in case of an emergency situation. Assuming Allen passed the test, it gives the Chiefs some flexibility when it comes to putting together their final 53-man roster. Keep in mind too that there has been some discussion about Larry Duvernay-Tardiff moving inside to guard, which could play a role in roster construction.
