When the Chiefs signed free safety Husain Abdullah, the first reaction of a larger portion of Chiefs Kingdom was: “who?” Abdullah wasn’t a highly touted free agent as he didn’t play for a team during the 2012 season. He took the entire year off of football to make a religious pilgrimage to Mecca, Saudi Arabia with his family. Returning to football after an entire season off would prove to be a huge undertaking.
Abdullah proved to be a solid reserve player for the Chiefs overall. He played in all 16 games during the season and ended with 27 tackles, a half of a sack and one pick that he took to the house during the Week 6 match up against the Oakland Raiders. Abdullah only signed a one-year deal with the Chiefs, however, so he’s back on the free agent market once again. Should the Chiefs take him back? Could he be the answer at free safety?
