Chiefs Making Moves That Matter

You also have to be impressed, for the most part, with the quality of the teams the Chiefs are scavenging: 49ers, Packers, Seahawks, Dolphins, and Texans.
Assessing “when” the current players on the Chiefs roster came to K.C.,
7 Chiefs players originated from the Herman Edwards/Carl Peterson era:
Brandon Flowers, Tamba Hali, Dustin Colquitt, Derrick Johnson, Jamaal Charles, Branden Albert, Dwayne Bowe and Thomas Gafford.
16 Chiefs players originated from the Scott Pioli era:
Jeff Allen, Jon Asamoah, Allen Bailey, Eric Berry, Cyrus Gray, Junior Hemingway, Justin Houston, Rodney Hudson, Tyson Jackson, Kendrick Lewis, Dexter McCluster, Dontari Poe, Donald Stephenson, Ryan Succop and Anthony Toribio.
The Chiefs remaining 30 players making up the Chiefs 53 man roster are all new to the Kansas City Chiefs and they are Andy Reid-John Dorsey guys.
Of the players who came from the Herman Edwards and Carl Peterson era, all 7 are starters (if you count the long snapper a starter).
Of the players who came from the Scott Pioli era, 8 are starters (notated in bold above).

Following is a further breakdown of two players, Marcus Cooper and Jaye Howard, which I believe Andy Reid and John Dorsey scored big on over the weekend.
Marcus Cooper, CB
Marcus Cooper goes 6-2, 192 and may be able to help immediately in coverage against TEs when the Chiefs bring in a cover package on 3rd and long. A 7th round pic, Cooper is an athletic, large sized corner with some smarts.
San Francisco 49er fans were not universally happy to lose CB Marcus Cooper. From Football’s Future here are some blogger quotes:
