New Orleans Offense vs. Chiefs Defense
The Saints came away with one first down on three plays then the Chiefs defense put together a three-and-out. So, you could call it a six-and-out if you like.
The encouraging play I was so taken by was the play of Dontari Poe on the Saints first offensive play from scrimmage. QB Drew Brees turns and hands off to RB Mark Ingram on a run to the right side.
As the ball is being handed to RB Ingram, Poe is sliding against his blocker to keep pace.
.
.
Poe breaks the grip of the blocker and moves towards the eventual hole Ingram will go through.
.
Poe continues to slide across the line of scrimmage giving no ground.
.
.
Poe meets Ingram in the hole for a ½ yard gain.
.
.
The next play N.O. double-teamed Poe and he ends up on his knees as Ingram races by for 6 yards. If Dontari Poe can learn to break the double-team on a consistent basis, a tall order I know, the Chiefs D will be a mighty force in 2013.
