The Kansas City Chiefs free agent target, former New York Giants defensive lineman Chris Canty, has another suitor in the Tennessee Titans.

The fact that the Titans made Canty an offer shouldn’t come as a surprise. There is a pretty good chance that the Chiefs, with whom Canty met after his visit to Tennessee, also offered the defensive lineman a contract.

We told you yesterday that Canty claimed the Chiefs “rolled out the red carpet” for him. I’d venture to guess that at the end of that carpet, was a contract offer.

Canty is taking his time with the decision which is the smart move at this point. The 2013 free agency period doesn’t start until March 12th so Canty is currently one of the top players available on the market. By waiting to sign he could force the Titans and Chiefs to up their bids. He could also buy himself some more time for another team to come sniffing around.

If it is between just the Chief and Titans, Canty’s decision may come down to which team he thinks has the best chance to win, especially if the contracts are similar in compensation.
