Report: Dolphins Were Only Team To Claim Slaton

facebooktwitterreddit

According to Pro Football Talk via Twitter, the Miami Dolphins were the only team to put in a waiver claim on RB Steve Slaton.

"ProFootballTalkDolphins were the only team to put in a waiver claim for Steve Slaton, per league source."

This frustrates me to no end. Sure, Slaton was benched a couple of years ago because of fumbling issues but guess who else has fumbling issues?

Dexter McCluster.

The Chiefs are so bad at RB, who cares if Slaton has fumbling/injury issues? Thomas Jones and Jackie Battle have GAINING YARDS issues!

What is Pioli worried about? That if he cuts Jackie freaking Battle that some other team might scoop him up off the waiver wire? Yeah. I’m sure teams are lined about around the block to get their hands on Jackie Battle.

Then again, the Chiefs are hardly using Battle. They prefer using Thomas Jones to get 2.2 yards a pop.

The first year Scott Pioli was in KC, the Chiefs were an absolute mess. He turned the roster over weekly, looking for someone who might be able to perform. Most of the guys he brought in were garbage but some, like Chris Chambers, actually were able to produce that season.

Steve Slaton is 25 and while he hasn’t been productive recently, there is a possibility he still COULD be productive. After all, the Texans weren’t really running him at all so how would we know?

What we do know is that Jackie Battle has never been productive and that Thomas Jones will likely never be productive again.

If things keep going the way they have been, the KC offense may never be productive again either.
