Kent Babb of the Kansas City Star seems to share my theory that Pendergast will stay on board but not as coordinator. You can see my thoughts on the DC situation here.
Here is what Babb has to say.
"kb_kcstar Here’s a thought for all of you panicking about Chiefs retaining Pendercast: Perhaps he agreed to being stripped of DC title. kb_kcstar I mean, that’s just a theory, but considering allll the circumstances, dating to last offseason, it would make some sense. kb_kcstar The Krumrie move makes a ton of sense. He’s a Herm holdover, and the Chiefs really liked what Anthony Pleasant was doing with DL. kb_kcstar Now here’s my disclaimer: It is possible the Chiefs are going to keep Pendergast as DC. I’d be very, very surprised. But it’s possible. kb_kcstar Because if I’m Clancy, I’m agreeing to just about anything to avoid being fired two years in a row. That’s not good for the ol’ career."
What do you think Addicts? Will Pendergast be on staff next year in a role other than Defensive Coordinator? Has he known this was coming since last offseason?
