Alright Kansas City Chiefs fans, a good bit of NFL news this week, including a big-time rumor regarding the Chiefs and Evan Mathis…which was quickly put to bed by Mathis himself.

But more on that in just a second.  The injury bug has been active this week with some prominent names going down for extended periods of time.  It’s going to happen.  Football is a contact sport.  And, unfortunately, this time of year, that’s going to be the bulk of the news we’re getting.

More from Kansas City Chiefs News

So, without further ado, here is this week’s NFL news and rumors…

Atlanta Falcons:  The Falcons have signed veteran backup quarterback Rex Grossman.  The Falcons haven’t gotten a good showing from either TJ Yates or Sean Renfree so far in the preseason, and obviously felt they needed a veteran presence.

Baltimore Ravens:  The Ravens have given safety Will Hill a two year extension.  Hill has a lot of talent, but has consistently had off the field issues since coming into the NFL.

Carolina Panthers:  The Panthers have lost starting defensive end Frank Alexander to a knee injury against the Dolphins.  He will be put on Injured Reserve.

Chicago Bears:  The Bears have lost defensive tackle Jeremiah Ratliff for the first three games of the 2015 season for violating the substance abuse policy.  Chicago was already pretty thin on the defensive line, and really could not afford a big loss like this.

Cleveland Browns:  The Browns have added to their quarterback mix by signing Pat Delvin.  The move comes on the heels of Manziel being sidelined with elbow soreness, which raises questions about his durability.  The Browns quarterback situation continues to be a mess after a poor showing by current starter Josh McCown.
