"They didn't say winnin' is easy..." - Dwayne Bowe

While getting ready to “break it down” after the Chiefs’ locker room celebration following their historic win against the Cleveland Browns, Dwayne Bowe had this to say.

They didn’t say winnin’ is easy. That’s how you win as a family. We [are] a family. Family on two!”

That’s a considerable thing to say considering Bowe’s contribution was one catch for seven yards and a couple of downfield blocks.

No he drew coverage from their number one cb. Very important to the win.

    • berttheclock

Exactly, just look at the box score of the game and you will see Smith threw to several different receivers as Haden, their best DB, was taken away from them.

  • chiefridgy

They need plays to throw this man the ball!

    • hipnetic

Even if it means losing the game? So it’s more important to force throws to Bowe and get his numbers up, even if it results in a loss?

    • berttheclock

Bowe may have had a long gain had Haden not held him. Penalty only went for five yards, but, that hold kept the Chiefs from gaining much needed field position. Even with that, Alex Smith barely missed him.

  • Jim Harper

I can’t believe you would say such a thing, Jason. Do you really feel those three things were Bowe’s only contribution? In my mind this has been one of Bowe’s better seasons. Yes, 2010 he put up amazing numbers, but this year he has become the complete player doing whatever it takes for the team. He has turned the corner from being selfish to being an unselfish player.

    • Jason Seibel

In re-reading the sentence I see it came off kind of snarky. I meant that even though he isn’t getting the ball he understands that winning and team trump everything. Didn’t mean for it to come off like that.

      • Jim Harper

Thanks for responding and clearing that up. You’re aces with me.

      • PunjabiPete

Ah, just read this. All good :)

Yeah, he’s not going to turn in a 2k receiving season, but I would rather have a team full of “no names” that find a way to win every week than a team with 6 pro bowlers that can’t sustain a drive on an empty field any day.

  • Mark Bustamante

Hell I didn’t know Bowe was that good of a blocker. He our a couple of Browns on their ASSES today. Bowe we love you.

    • berttheclock

Last week, he took out three Texans. He hit two of them and the 3rd one ran into the pile.

  • PunjabiPete

Do we have problems? Yes. Why you mad at DBowe though? He did what he was asked. He also got a penalty that gave us a crucial first down. I have a friend that lives in Ohio, and he says the Browns are one of those teams that finds a way to hang in there and make people wonder how the hell their record is what it is, then they commit a couple stupid penalties and that’s why. I wish it had been a blowout, we are NOT intimidating Denver with these kinds of games, but for now I’m just going to enjoy the victories and let my homerism win over my pessimism. Try it, could be fun!

On a completely unrelated note, is there a newish haunted house/ supernatural horror flick as good as the Conjuring out? I really liked that film and want to see something equally disturbing tomorrow night.

Bowe’s down field blocking is invaluable. Alex Smith would have gotten maybe 5 or 6 yards on that one scramble except for that block Bowe made that busted him loose for 23 yards. Also watch what happens when McCluster gets his TD catch. The reason McCluster got open was because the Browns cheated up to cover Bowe and let McCluster run free. I watched Bowe yesterday. I specifically zeroed in on him. The vast majority of the time he was double covered. It seems teams are saying “we are going to double cover Bowe and we dare Alex Smith to beat us with his other receivers”

    • Bosco Cletus

Which he did, we would have killed for 265 and 2 tds out of ANY qb n our roster last year.

  • Jim Butler

I think Bowe is doing his share and more, he has been occupying defenders which allows others to get open and he has had some devastating blocks down field, admittedly it would be nice to him more active catching passes, but you can’t discount his contribution to winning games, GEAUX CHIEFS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
