Who the Lions Want

The Detroit Lions are facing the future with a stud QB who I love (Matthew Stafford) and the #2 overall pick.

As part of my series of sucking-up-to-other-teams-bloggers-so-they’ll-give-me-their-thoughts, I’ll piggyback on the thoughts of Kevin Ferguson, lead blogger of SideLion Report, one of the few Lions-centric blogs out there.

Here’s what he emailed me, which he also simul-blogged:

"With Stephen Jackson facing a possible year suspension and Bulger contemplating leaving the game altogether, this would leave the Rams Offense completely barren. Nearly everyone has the Rams taking DT Ndamukong Suh out of Nebraska; No doubt a special player, but will they have to look to offense?Suh as also signed the same agent as Michael Crabtree. If anything that makes DT Gerald McCoy more appealing to me. I will also be happy with OT Russel Okung; We made an 80 million dollar investment with Matt Stafford, lets put some talent in front of him to protect said investment."

I hear from Rams experts over and over again that, despite Ferguson’s worries that Jackson and Bulger’s issues could deplete their offense, they still want Suh. I think that’d be hard to ignore if you’re GM Billy Devaney, and even moreso if your head coach is the defense-loving Steve Spagnuolo.

So Kevin’s insight here is pretty uncontroversial: the best DT, or Okung.

Check out SideLion Report, you’re not going to find too many blogs this enthusiastic about the Lions.
