Is There Such A Thing As A 3-4 Cornerback?

AUTHOR: jeremyhanson | IN: Chiefs | COMMENTS: 34 Comments

First off, I would like to apologize for this posting. It will not provide you with any information. There are no answers here, just questions. I would like to call upon our Addicts who have either played organized football or coached it to discuss the following:
Before I ask the questions, I would like to lay this premise: Over the last few years we have essentially played a Cover 2 defense. As we all know, some cornerbacks in the league are considered to be Cover 2 corners. There is no dispute that the past regime [...]

Wake Up, Chiefs Nation: Larry Johnson Is Done In K.C.

AUTHOR: Adam Best | IN: Chiefs | COMMENTS: 63 Comments

There is one thing about many Chiefs fans that drives me absolutely crazy. I’m sure others who cover the Chiefs — Chris Thorman, Jason Whitlock, Kent Babb, Merlin, Nick Athan, etc…. — get frustrated by it, too. I’m sure it’s not just us bloggers and writers either. I imagine that realistic Chiefs fans often get annoyed by the rampant homerism as well. What am I talking about? I’m talking about the fact that Chiefs fans often, to quote Jack Nicholson, “can’t handle the truth.”
They refuse to look at their team’s roster through anything except a Red-and-Gold-colored prism. This is why [...]

Chiefs Should Cut L.J., Sign Edgerrin James

AUTHOR: Adam Best | IN: Rumors | COMMENTS: 24 Comments

I’ve been down this road before, but today it makes more sense than ever. After Edgerrin James got released by the Cardinals yesterday, the Chiefs could sign him to a more reasonable deal than the contract currently in place with Larry Johnson. There are multiple reasons to do this:
1. Edge is a much better blocker and receiver than L.J., which makes him far more valuable in Todd Haley’s pass-happy offense.
2. Edge already knows Haley’s system.
3. The abovementioned financial reason, and that’s assuming Edge would get paid less than the nearly $4 million L.J. is due to make this year. I [...]

Separated At Birth: Tyson Jackson

AUTHOR: Adam Best | IN: Off-Topic/Other, Wallpapers/Images | COMMENTS: 5 Comments

Found this over on Manofest.com and laughed my ass off. So, I thought I’d share it with all my fellow Addicts. As upset as a lot of Chiefs fans are, it’s time for a good chuckle. Eric Wood and the kid from Bad Santa is the best, but this Tyson Jackson one is pretty funny, too…

#9 Tyson Jackson & Malcolm-Jamal Warner – Now that Tyson is a millionaire, he should definitely try to make a run at Keisha Knight Pulliam because Rudy Huxtable got pretty damn hot.
I don’t know, though, I’m thinking he looks more like Harold Perrineau of Oz/Matrix/Lost [...]

The NFL Draft: Some Things Never Change

AUTHOR: this old chief | IN: Draft, Features | COMMENTS: 11 Comments

Much to the consternation of my wife and my daughters, I participated (editor’s note: more like semi-participated) in the male beauty contest held last weekend — the NFL Draft, formerly known as the player disbursement lottery. I was struck by the year-to-year similarities so I put together a top ten of the draft…
10. Bill Belichick will trade down to acquire future picks and, of course, will be hailed as a genius.
9. The Rams, in an effort to further confuse their fans and announcers, draft Chris Ogbonnaya. He will be a great fit on the roster along with Oshiomogho Atogwe, Fakhir [...]

Arrowhead Adventures: Chiefs' 2009 NFL Draft Party

AUTHOR: Randy5k-Arrowhead Adventurer | IN: Draft | COMMENTS: 4 Comments

I can’t tell you how long my buddy Dennis and I had been waiting for this day.
I have heard the figure 2% mentioned by the NFL when it comes to the percentage of fans that actually attend games. I’m sure it’s a much smaller percentage that attend non-game events.
I can tell you that over 98% of Chiefs fans are missing a lot.
So much more goes on with the Kansas City Chiefs than just the games.t Te Hunt family has always made sure of that. The NFL Draft day party at Arrowhead is no exception.
It’s held in the practice facility right [...]

Merlin's Magic: 2009 Chief Draft Review

AUTHOR: merlin | IN: Merlin's Magic | COMMENTS: 35 Comments

While the draft is one of my favorite events in football, the post-draft analysis is fun too. Going into to the draft, my biggest question was about the defensive direction. Is the 4-3 under defense our base set for years to come or is it a transitional phase to a 3-4 defense? This draft provided some of the clearest signals to what our future defense will look like. Let’s go through the picks and my reactions to them.
Round one, Tyson Jackson, DE – Word of this pick leaked out in the days before the draft. Jackson was a solid pick. [...]
