Yo! Adam here, wanting to give Merlin a warm welcome as he joins the Arrowhead Addict staff as a part-time featured contributor. He’ll be chiming in every now and then with his vast football knowledge and representing Chiefs fans and A.A. commenters to the max! Enjoy his first official post…
Before I get into the draft, I want to cover the Jared Allen situation. I love Jared as a player. Building a restaurant in the area made me think he wanted to be a Chief for life. Apparently, that was not the case. We may never know the full story, however, [...]

A Draft Done Right
Let me start off by saying that I think the only draft pick I got correct in my Mock Draft a week ago was the pick the Oakland Faiders made when they selected Darren McFadden with the fourth choice overall. That is why they are called “mock” drafts.
I was going to write an article this week about the Jared Allen trade and my thoughts on the subject, but after watching the first day of the draft Saturday, I got to tell you, I would like to personally send Jared a thank you card for agreeing to sign with the Vikings [...]
Before I Go, Let's Stir The Pot…
Since the Bucs now have seven quarterbacks and Chris Simms is reportedly healthy and throwing well, who else thinks the Chiefs should consider trading for him? After all, we didn’t draft a quarterback to compete with Brodie Croyle, and Damon Huard looked finished at the end of last season. How much could a trade possibly cost when everybody knows the Bucs have to unload a couple QBs? I mean, they have to. And he might even get cut, which would be even better for us.
This and my 3-4 idea might not happen, but both make some sense to me. Anyway, [...]
Day Two Recap: Head Of The Class
Simply put, I’m extremely impressed with the Chiefs‘ brass right now. Impressed enough that if they get all our picks signed quickly enough I might even drop the Arrowhead boycott. Before, I thought all of this rebuild-through-the-draft talk was just the Chiefs being frugal. In the NFL Draft’s aftermath, however, my opinion is starting to change.
It looks like the Chiefs are going to load up during this draft and the next, and also save up money for some young free agents when they are closer to competing. I guess that’s always been the rebuilding plan, but prior to the Jared [...]
Open Thread: Draft Wind-Up
I’m out until later tonight when I chime back in with my Chiefs‘ Day Two grades and recap. Three things:
A.) Until then, I’m opening up this open thread for Chiefs fans to sound off on King Carl and this draft haul.
B.) I’m off for vacation tomorrow for a couple weeks, and won’t be checking in much. Zach will be back soon, and the rest of the staff will be around some as well. This is my first vacay during my one year plus at A.A., and I figure post draft is the time to take it. With the dead period [...]
Update: The Bucs just took Johnson and the Saints just took Nicks. Ouch. It is clear to me that we feel we have so many holes that we are absolutely not willing to sacrifice picks to move up. Oh well, I tried.
I’m going to make this short and sweet. I know he has character concerns, but my God, in the fifth round I love Carl Nicks. I would have been perfectly fine drafting him in the third round. The Chiefs have had a draft for the ages, but King Carl and Co. need to move up and draft this kid. [...]
K-State fans didn’t get Jordy Nelson, Kansas fans didn’t get Aqib Talib, but Mizzou fans will get to see WR William Franklin, aka The Helicopter, in Red and Gold. Let’s all hope he turns out better than Brad Ekwerekwu, the former Tiger and Redbeard’s personal savior who got cut a year ago.
Back to Franklin. My old man is a die-hard Mizzou fan, and he says Franklin is a great kid who comes from a great St. Louis family. He also said that he felt he was underutilized at Mizzou. I’ll let other Mizzou fans chime in on that. As far [...]
Update: Just read that he’s a standout special teamer.
The Chiefs went with S DaJuan Morgan out of N.C. State with its third third -round pick. I can already hear the grumbling, but, hey, maybe the Chiefs aren’t as high on Bernard Pollard and Jarrad Page as fans are. Some fans act like they’ve both already made a handful of Pro Bowls. Let’s get serious; they both got burned frequently in pass coverage last year, and Page’s tackling left a lot to be desired.
Before I break down Morgan, I just want you to know that the kid’s versatile–he’s a dancer [...]
