Chiefs Fix: The Long Halloween

AUTHOR: Adam Best | IN: Off-Topic/Other | COMMENTS: None Yet

For those of you who don’t recognize the title The Long Halloween, it is actually a Batman graphic novel which provides some of the basis for the current film series. We thought that it was fitting considering how long we’ve been waiting for a Chiefs game, and also because it’s hump day.
On with the fix…
Texans defensive tackle Amobi Okoye is a distant cousin of The Nigerian Nightmare. Saw that while doing fantasy football research and found it interesting. – Chron.com
Chris keeps us up to date statistics wise and on where the MSM has us in their latest power rankings. Movin’ [...]

Tony Gonzalez vs. Atari Bigby and Co.? Game Over

AUTHOR: Adam Best | IN: Chiefs | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

I promised some smack talk today, so here it is. We’re just getting started, too…
Green Bay Packers strong safety Atari Bigby got four penalties last night while getting eaten alive by tight ends Daniel Graham and Tony Scheffler. That being said, what is Tony Gonzalez going to do to the 5-foot-11 second-year player/Rastafarian? I doubt that third-year free safety Nick Collins — who’s also 5-foot-11 — can or will fare any better, though.
Then there are outside linebackers A.J. “Cromagnum Man” Hawk and Brady Poppinga. Yeah, like they can really run with Tony G. Besides, Poppinga is 6-foot-3 and Hawk is [...]

Favre Beats Broncos, Heads to K.C. on Fiya

AUTHOR: Adam Best | IN: Chiefs | COMMENTS: 5 Comments

Wow. A 79- and an 82-yard touchdown pass in the same game? If Brett Favre can toast “Chump” Bailey and “Fly By” Bly like that, I shudder at the thought of what he might do to Pat Surtain and Ty Law. Hopefully, the cover 2 defense will keep both of our ancient corners from getting toasted. I suppose John Lynch was out as well. The other glaring thing that I noticed was how much freakin’ time Favre had back there. I think he could of read his wife Deanna’s new book a couple of those times.
While Denver has absolutely [...]

Back From "The Abyss" (Aka the Bye Week)

AUTHOR: Adam Best | IN: Breaking News | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

Phew… While it was nice to finally have a little break from constant Kansas City Chiefs blogging, we’re glad to be back blogging the Chiefs for the stretch run. Yesterday, Zach and I had nothing else to do except torture ourselves by watching our futile fantasy rosters underachieve courtesy of NFL Direct Ticket. Sunday sure was cold without the Red and Gold, I know that much. Especially since the World Series kept us from getting a Sunday night game (who watches baseball over football, anyway?).
We’re back, and this week we actually have an opponent. No more State of the Union [...]

Chiefs Fix: Bye Week Blues

AUTHOR: Adam Best | IN: Off-Topic/Other | COMMENTS: None Yet

This is agonizing, isn’t it? Well, here’s the best the Chiefs blogosphere and MSM can muster for us during the bye week…
Chris over at Arrowhead Pride does a fantastic job breaking down both the defense and the offense and assigning grades. Yep, the defense flunked. He also mentions how 1/3 of people believe in ghosts in his link dump. Seriously, people? And, yes, we have nothing to write about this week. – Arrowhead Pride
Bob Gretz compares our own Herm Edwards to the other second-year coaches around the league. Herm ain’t doing so bad, folks. – Chiefs Official Site

State of Chiefs Nation Address

AUTHOR: Adam Best | IN: Wallpapers/Images | COMMENTS: 6 Comments

The bye week, basically the midway point, is upon us, and as Chiefs fans we have quite a bit to be thankful for.
Our Chiefs are 4-3; sitting atop the AFC West after most NFL experts predicted us to be cellar dwellars.
Jared Allen looks like the frontrunner for Defensive Player of the Year right now, racking up eight sacks and 12 quarterback hits (20 total QB pressures) in five games. The scary thing is that he’s almost just as good against the run.
Dwayne Bowe leads rookie receivers in essentially every statistical category.
We haven’t yet suffered a full-fledged QB controversy, and we [...]

Kansas City Chiefs… Ballet?

AUTHOR: Adam Best | IN: Video | COMMENTS: None Yet

Just discovered this clip on the ol’ YouTube. It’s an older video, but it still should pull at least a chuckle out of most of us Chiefs fans. Plus, Neil Smith and a couple other big names are shown. Hey, it’s bye week. Enjoy…
