Xavier Worthy quickly became rivals with a close friend during draft

Talk about awkward.

One year ago, Xavier Worthy heard his name called on the first night of the draft by the Kansas City Chiefs. Considering how successful Texas has been in the college football scene in recent years, it's not a surprise that Worthy's former teammates would be hearing their names called in the first round this year.

One such teammate was Jahdae Barron, whose draft party Worthy attended. Normally this would simply be a case of "Oh, that's nice" but this draft party likely ended up being at least a little bit awkward, as Barron was drafted by none other than the Denver Broncos.

Considering that Worthy plays wide receiver and Barron plays defensive back, it's quite possible that these two are matched up against each other whenever the Chiefs and Broncos square off for the foreseeable future.

Worthy had previously tried to manifest the Chiefs drafting Barron back in February but alas, it wasn't meant to be. Now not only will Barron be suiting up for a team that's not the Chiefs, it's with one of their most hated rivals.

As much fun as it was to see the Broncos sputter out of control for the past several years, it sadly looks as if they know what they're doing. They reached the playoffs this past season for the first time since they won the Super Bowl in 2016 and don't appear to be the joke that they were for quite some time.

Barron helps an already strong Broncos defense get stronger, which is another unfortunate blow. That unit didn't have many weaknesses before and now they have yet another warrior on that side of the ball.

Hopefully, when Worthy and Barron match up, the Chiefs wide receiver can put on a clinic and make his old teammate look bad.
