After constant, unceasing speculation, the Kansas City Chiefs did it.

Football fans everywhere had been wondering whether or not the Chiefs would go out and make a move to get Patrick Mahomes some wide receiver help, and it wasn't just Chiefs Kingdom. This has been a popular topic for quite some time.

Ever since the Chiefs lost Rashee Rice for the season after previously watching Hollywood Brown go out for the year, this team had been in desperate need for help at the position. Of course, going out and signing JuJu Smith-Schuster provided a lift.

But, this team needed more if they were going to continue to be the juggernaut they've been over the years. Mahomes is still Mahomes, but fans may have had a difficult time watching this offense at times. Kansas City cannot continue to survive by throwing all of their tight ends out on the field in certain moments.

Now, Mahomes is certainly good enough to make that work when all is said and done. But, to continue to use that strategy? It's going to make things tougher on the Chiefs, in the end.

That's why, on Wednesday morning, Kansas City went out and finalized a trade for wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins. The Chiefs sent a fifth-round pick over to Tennessee in exchange for Hopkins, and that pick could become a fourth rounder based on playing time and a Super Bowl appearance.

With the addition of Hopkins, now, how does the Chiefs' wide receiver depth chart look?

Chiefs wide receiver depth chart following DeAndre Hopkins trade

WR1: DeAndre Hopkins
WR2: JuJu Smith-Schuster (injured -- see below)
WR3: Xavier Worthy
WR4: Justin Watson
WR5: Mecole Hardman
WR6: Skyy Moore

It's pretty easy to say that, right off the bat, Hopkins is going to be the clear no. 1. Even though he's not what he once was and is getting up there in age, he's still the best wideout on this team, and it's not close.

Not to mention, the rejuvenation we'll likely see from Hopkins cannot be understated. He hasn't had a chance to win a Super Bowl and, at the age of 32, he now gets that opportunity.

At the moment, Smith-Schuster is going to miss this next game against the Las Vegas Raiders with a hamstring injury. However, once he is back, he'll slot right back into being the no. 2 behind Hopkins.

Hopefully, Hopkins is able to do enough where it opens things up for a guy like Xavier Worthy, too. This isn't necessarily a "blockbuster," but the trade could have some significant impacts on a team like the Chiefs. If Hopkins is able to take some clear attention from opposing defenses, leaving Worthy freed up to beat one man deep, look out.

This might be exactly what Kansas City needed.
