A Tyreek Hill trade to a Chiefs rival may not be as crazy as it sounds

There are seven other divisions, you know.

The Kansas City Chiefs have been living in a post-Tyreek Hill world now for three years, as he was traded to the Miami Dolphins in the 2022 offseason. While Hill's absence left a huge void in the wide receiver room, the Chiefs haven't missed a Super Bowl since he's been gone and have added two Super Bowl trophies to their collection.

That being said, Hill has been a huge playmaker for the Dolphins. He had over 1,700 yards in 2022 and 2023 while scoring a whopping 13 touchdowns in the 2023 season. He had a down year in 2024, not reaching the 1,000-yard mark and he seemed genuinely frustrated with the Dolphins when the season was officially over.

If Hill is annoyed and wants out, a trade very well could happen. Moe Moton of Bleacher Report put together five potential draft-day trade packages that teams could offer the Dolphins for Hill and included two non-Chiefs AFC West teams on the list of possible trades, those being the Chargers and the Raiders.

Chargers and Raiders could make sense as landing spots for Tyreek Hill

For the Raiders, Moton has them surrendering their 2025 third-round pick (68th overall), their 2026 third-round pick, and wide receiver Tre Tucker. Moton noted that Brock Bowers and Jakobi Meyers did the heavy lifting for the Raiders offensively but that Hill would give the Raiders' offense a much-needed boost, especially after trading for (and then extending) Geno Smith.

"The Raiders can bring in Hill as an upgrade over Tucker to field a more explosive offense with Smith's ability to sling the ball accurately downfield. Because head coach Mike McDaniel emphasizes offensive speed, he may want Tucker in a deal."

As for the Chargers, Moton proposed they surrender this year's second-round pick and next year's fourth-round pick. They don't have to trade a player but they're giving up a second-rounder rather than a third-rounder.

Moton said that this trade would make sense for the Chargers because "Hill would fill a void and take full advantage of his target share as a complement to wideout Ladd McConkey." Chiefs fans don't want to see Hill rejoin the AFC West at all but letting him and McConkey cook together sounds absolutely terrifying.

Hopefully if the Dolphins do part ways with Hill, they send him to the NFC where facing off against the Chiefs won't happen as often. He might not be as scary as he once was but having to play him twice a year wouldn't be fun whatsoever.
