Travis Kelce's postgame media snub speaks volumes about his Chiefs future

A difficult reality for Chiefs fans.

That isn't quite how fans thought the game would end. For the third time this season, Travis Kelce bobbled a pass that wound up being intercepted. The Kansas City Chiefs not only lost the game, but their playoff hopes and Kelce's future might have packed up for the ride as well.

After Patrick Mahomes' third interception on the night, which should be rightfully credited to Kelce, the grim reality became more and more apparent.

Kelce's woes have been on display all season long. And, after the latest blunder, Kansas City's biggest smile and greatest tight end of their illustrious history made the decision to skip his time with the media.

There was no postgame press conference for Kelce.

Rough scene.

Travis Kelce told Chiefs fans everything they needed to know with his postgame actions (but he deserves a moment)

We aren't going to play the "Negative Nancy" game, here. Sure, there are plenty of folks who could see Kelce's media snub and run with the idea that he acted childish, pouted or was a sore loser.

Go ahead and run with those narratives if you'd like, but maybe this runs a lot deeper.

Maybe, just maybe, Kelce got himself ready for one last run with the Chiefs and had the highest of high expectations. And, just like that ... those expectations have been shattered.

Maybe, he is now realizing that he just doesn't have what he once had -- and that's OK.

The brutal reality is setting in for a Chiefs legend. The end might actually be in sight. And again, that's OK.

Kelce is arguably the greatest to ever do it at his position. To have that type of performance in a game that very well could've been the final nail in Kansas City's playoff coffin has to leave an extremely bitter taste in his mouth.

It also could have been a sign that this is, really, the last hurrah.

Maybe, he skipped out on his media time solely because he really didn't have any answers. These guys aren't always going to have the right things to say. Reporters and writers want all of the juicy quotes. Admittedly, those are what make this industry go round.

But Kelce might not have had any of them at that very moment. This could've been one of those times where he wasn't just facing the reality of another loss, but where he was staring a difficult future squarely between the eyes.

Call his media snub whatever you want. Go right ahead. But, this could be as inexplainable as any moment he's had over the course of his career -- and we might just need to give him the benefit of the doubt on this one.
