This Skyy Moore trade proposal would be a dream come true for Chiefs fans

... too bad it won't happen.

The Kansas City Chiefs spent a second-round pick on Western Michigan's Skyy Moore in the 2022 NFL Draft and... well, it didn't end up being a good pick. In three years with the Chiefs, Moore has appeared in 36 games and tallied 43 receptions for 494 yards and one measly touchdown.

While Moore will mostly be remembered as a bust, Chiefs fans do have one fond memory of him and that's the touchdown he scored in Super Bowl LVII. That's where the positives stop with Moore, however.

With all of that said, no one would expect the Chiefs to get anything from Moore if they were to try and trade him. The more likely outcome would be to simply cut bait with him in the offseason and continue to try and build the receiver room through the draft (though at least this year, the Chiefs have Xavier Worthy, Hollywood Brown, JuJu Smith-Schuster, and eventually Rashee Rice).

Well, Brian Sampson of KC Kingdom wrote about three Chiefs players who could be traded to net the team some late-round draft picks and Moore made that list.

"Moore’s never lacked potential, but he’s never looked like a fit in Kansas City. Another team might think they can unlock what the Chiefs couldn’t. Veach has a history of turning low-level trades into smart value plays. This could be another."

Recent Skyy Moore trade proposal seems unlikely

While Chiefs fans would love to see the team get anything for Moore, it's not going to happen. Sampson notes that Moore wasn't a good fit for the Chiefs and another team might think they can unlock something in him. Maybe this is true but they're probably not going to give up a draft pick (even if it's a late-round pick) to try and make it work with Moore. No, they'll just try to sign him when he's cut instead.

Teams strike out on draft picks all the time, even second-rounders. Moore not working out is definitely a disappointment but at least he played a part in helping them win Super Bowl LVII with that touchdown. It's not often that busts have a moment so big like that but at least Moore can say he scored on the biggest stage.
