The Kansas City Chiefs are heading to yet another Super Bowl with the chance to secure the league's first-ever three-peat. If we weren't Chiefs fans, we'd probably be tired of seeing the same team representing the AFC season after season but fortunately for all of us, we are indeed Chiefs fans, so this journey continues to be a lot of fun.
With every key Chiefs victory comes an epic call from Mitch Holthus of the Chiefs radio team. Fans know that in key moments and key victories, Holthus is going to provide a killer call on the radio and this time around, he did that once again.
As the Chiefs kneeled down to clinch the game, Holthus gave us another award-winning call.
"You can doubt the Chiefs, you can dislike the Chiefs, you can disrespect the Chiefs, you're gonna have to deal with the Chiefs being the first team in National Football League history to win back-to-back Super Bowls and go to the Super Bowl for the chance at a three-peat! The Kansas City Chiefs have just done something that's never been done! And the Kansas City Chiefs-Chiefs Kingdom rocket has gone past Pluto! The Chiefs win the AFC Championship 32 to 29!"
Chiefs radio call of game-sealing moment is a thing of beauty
Holthus is no stranger to providing fans with excellent calls and commentary and this call was no different. He's leaned into the villain arc in recent calls, noting that people can dislike and disrespect the Chiefs all they want but that they will indeed have to deal with the reigning champs.
It's no surprise that people sighed a collective groan when the Chiefs were able to pull off another improbable comeback to punch their ticket to another Super Bowl. Remember how it felt watching the Patriots go to all of those Super Bowls for 20 years? Well, now the Chiefs are the Patriots and non-Chiefs fans are sick and tired of it.
That's what makes Holthus' calls even more entertaining. He knows that anyone not in Chiefs Kingdom is probably going to roll their eyes at his calls but his role is to be the Chiefs' hype man and he definitely fits that bill. The best in the biz for sure.
