The Kansas City Chiefs are in a dogfight with the Baltimore Ravens in the first game of the 2024 NFL regular season and it didn't take long at all for Xavier Worthy to officially introduce himself to the rest of the league.

After the Ravens marched down the field and scored on a Derrick Henry touchdown to make it a 7-0 game, the Chiefs offense responded with a touchdown drive of their own, thanks in part to Worthy's heroics. On just the fifth play of the drive, Patrick Mahomes flipped the ball to Worthy, who took the pigskin to the house and tied the game up. He zipped down the field proving that yes, his speed would do just fine at the professional level.

Xavier Worthy made the best possible first impression

This was Worthy's first touch of his NFL career and he made it count, taking the ball 21 yards and weaving through the Baltimore defense to find his way into the end zone. It was a much-needed play after the Chiefs fell behind early but Worthy got them right back in the game.

The Chiefs spent their first-round draft pick on Worthy, who had played his college ball at Texas. It was a move that made people think "Ooh boy" because what was Mahomes missing a season ago? Wide receivers. What does he have now? Wide receivers.

If this is what Chiefs fans and the rest of the NFL is going to see from Worthy in Kansas City, the rest of the league better be on notice... you know, if they weren't already.

If the rest of the league couldn't stop Mahomes when he had a weak group of wide receivers, just imagine how difficult it'll be to stop him and the Chiefs offense with this new group. Worthy showed that he's for real just one play in. Let's hope he has a bunch more of those plays under his belt.
