Xavier Worthy didn't even need 1 full game to leave Skyy Moore in the dust
The Kansas City Chiefs have scored three touchdowns in their Week 1 match-up against the Baltimore Ravens and Xavier Worthy has scored two of them. The first came on the fifth offensive drive of the game when Patrick Mahomes flipped the ball to the rookie, who promptly took it 21 yards down the field for the Chiefs' first touchdown of the season.
The second touchdown from Worthy came in the fourth quarter in broken coverage. Mahomes hit a wide open Worthy down the field and he dashed into the end zone for a 35-yard score to put KC up 27 to 17.
Worthy's performance has been an absolute gem but with it comes a stat that might have Chiefs fans confused whether or not they should laugh or cry. Worthy's first touchdown meant that he was already tied in regular season touchdown receptions with 2022 second-round pick Skyy Moore. The Western Michigan product had one touchdown in the 2023 regular season but that's it.
With Worthy's second touchdown reception, he's already passed Moore in receiving touchdowns. Worthy has played in one game while Moore has played in over 30 so take that for what it's worth.
Xavier Worthy already has more touchdowns than Skyy Moore
Chiefs fans already knew that Moore was a bust after he's failed to do much of anything during his first two years in the league so this isn't exactly a surprising moment. We all figured that Worthy would pass Moore's one touchdown reception at some point but one game into his career? It's hard not to laugh at this.
Worthy was drafted in the first round of this year's draft to help give Patrick Mahomes an elite weapon to throw to after he was lacking in that department a season ago. Moore was one of those lackluster weapons Mahomes had to throw to during the 2023 season and at this point, fans aren't expecting anything meaningful from him. At least we'll always have his touchdown reception in Super Bowl LVII.
