Will a Kansas City Chiefs player be on the Madden '25 cover?

Can the NFL ever have enough Chiefs' representation?

It's almost that time of year when the unveiling takes place and we all revel in the glory of the cover of the newest Madden NFL iteration. This year, the date has been set by the fine folks at EA Sports and we'll find out who is honored (or is it cursed?) on June 11.

That brings up an interesting question: Will it be someone from the Kansas City Chiefs? It doesn't seem likely and yet there's no denying the pull and presence of all things Chiefs these days.

The idea of putting Patrick Mahomes on the cover of anything these days seems like a solid bet, but it's also true that he's already been on the cover by himself in 2020 and with Tom Brady in 2022. John Madden himself was on the 2023 cover to honor the longtime NFL coaching legend, so that means that only two players from two other teams have been on Madden covers in the last five years besides Mahomes (and Brady).

Given Mahomes' dominance on cover art, it might work best to move away from the Chiefs entirely but then you have to overlook Travis Kelce who has become a household name (if he wasn't one already). We're pretty sure Swifties aren't going to be lured to buy Madden '25 if Kelce is on the cover, but his popularity right now is at its zenith and he'd be a good idea.

The only two other players to don the cover are Lamar Jackson of the Baltimore Ravens and Josh Allen of the Buffalo Bills, which means it's been a long time since anyone from the NFC stood alone in the Madden series (Odell Beckham Jr. of the New York Giants in 2016). Could Micah Parsons give a defensive twist?

Some other popular considerations should include Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud, San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey, Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek HIll, Minnesota Vikings wideout Justin Jefferson, New York Jets corner Sauce Gardner, and Pittsburgh Steelers pass rusher T.J. Watt. It's also possible a wild card is involved that upsets all expectations.
