Who are the highest-paid Kansas City Chiefs at each position?

The Chiefs have very few bad contracts. But, that doesn't mean they do not pay their players handsomely.

Special Teams

13. Kicker: Harrison Butker

2023 Cash Amount: $3,700,000

Harrison Butker had a terrible 2022 season; there is no doubt about that. Still, he was considered one of the league's better kickers prior to last season. The Chiefs signed him to a five-year, $20,275,000 contract to try and be the team's long-term kicker after a revolving door at the position. He is a dark horse trade or cut candidate, with a 2023 cash amount ranking ninth in the league.

14. Punter: Tommy Townsend

2023 Cash Amount: $2,627,000

Which is better: the locks or the leg? Tommy Townsend has been a steady punter for the Chiefs, and the team re-signed him this offseason to a one-year, $2,627,000 contract. He could be in line for a multi-year deal this upcoming offseason, but he is still getting paid well right now. His 2023 cash amount ranks sixth among all NFL punters.

15. Long Snapper: James Winchester

2023 Cash Amount: $1,165,000

Listen, I will not pretend I know the way to measure a successful long snapper. But I feel that continuity is a huge part of positional value. Winchester has played more than 1,150 special teams snaps with the Chiefs since joining the team in 2015. The team rewarded that skill and continuity by paying him a 2023 cash amount tied for the 18th-highest among NFL long snappers.
