Weather report for Bengals-Chiefs won't allow for any excuses in final results
By Matt Conner
Given the rate at which teams playing the Kansas City Chiefs like to resort to excuses to explain their losses, it should be noted ahead of Week 2 that the weather won't provide any cover for such responses for either the Chiefs, who are at home, or the visiting Cincinnati Bengals.
The Bengals are already licking their wounds from a week ago as they lost unexpectedly (even shockingly) to a young New England Patriots team that resembled the lesser opponent on paper. Sixty on-field minutes later, however, the Pats' defense had limited Joe Burrow and company enough to allow their ground game to pick up the yards and points necessary to steal a season-opening win.
It should be a beautiful day for football so no one is going to be allowed to blame anything on the elements in K.C.
Now the Bengals head to Kansas City with a very real shot at starting 0-2 yet again, a frustrating start that only makes the trek toward the postseason that much more difficult—especially in a strong division like the AFC North.
Most bettors are assuming the Chiefs will win their Week 2 matchup at home against the Bengals, but in case Cincy's players are already thinking of potential excuses to conjure following the game, the weather won't be a part of it.
On Sunday, the forecast for Arrowhead is pretty much a perfect day for football—with game-time temperatures expected to be around 85 degrees with a slight breeze of 9 miles per hour and partly cloudy skies. In short, there's no inclement weather nor crazy winds or even an overly blinding sun to blame for anything that happens in Week 2.
Of course, that won't stop teams from finding alternate narratives they want to believe. Just ask the Baltimore Ravens who pretty much complained about every aspect of their own visit a week ago to start the season.
