Three established defensive linemen who should interest the Chiefs

The Chiefs have a need to go shopping along the defensive line and we've got some players worth checking out.

Carlos Dunlap

If the Chiefs are going to make a signing of anyone along the defensive line, this is the one that makes the most sense. It's also the most telegraphed.

The Chiefs signed Ingram for the first time last offseason and Dunlap went on to win his first Super Bowl ring in a storied career after years of playing with the Cincinnati Bengals and Seattle Seahawks in their less-than-successful stretches. After winning last year, Dunlap said he was open to returning if the Chiefs were interested, and K.C. has been positive about having him around for another run, too.

The problem at this point is a lack of cap room, which has suggested that maybe signing Dunlap (or anyone) is contingent on bringing back Chris Jones with a newly negotiated contract extension.

Last year, Dunlap had 4 sacks for the Chiefs as a rotational edge player and he'd likely step right into that same role again with even greater importance knowing that Frank Clark is out and Charles Omenihu is suspended (and new). For a team with a lot of uncertainty up front, the fact that Dunlap has only missed three games in the last 10 years (and none in the last two) makes him an impressive player at age 34.
