NFL Power Rankings, Week 8: Chiefs roll, Ravens maul the Lions
By Grant Tuttle
25. New England Patriots (2-5)
Last Week: 28 (+3)
WIN! Bill Belichick's Patriots showed grit and determination and beat the Bills in a surprise victory. Going forward, it is hard to predict just how much more they could ascend. They are an eight-win team at best, but perhaps they could play spoiler to some teams down the stretch.
26. New York Giants (2-5)
Last Week: 29 (+3)
Did the Giants win? Yes, really. New York snuck out a win against Sam Howell's Commanders. With an impressive defensive showing, there is a little glimmer of hope that the Giants can win a few more games, no matter how offensive their games are to the senses.
27. Chicago Bears (2-5)
Last Week: 30 (+3)
The Bears, led by rookie Tyler Bagent, beat up the Las Vegas Raiders this week. The Bears seem to be finding their groove almost halfway through the season. All of a sudden, they seem harder to deal with and hang around deeper into games. I'm certainly not advocating for the Bears to move way up, but their recent success is worth keeping an eye on.
28. Las Vegas Raiders (3-4)
Last Week: 22 (-6)
HAHAHAHAHA!! hate to take too much pleasure in the Raiders' misery, but man, how do you get obliterated by the Tyler Bagent-led Chicago Bears? What is it going to take for Josh McDaniels to be fired? There are not many scenarios that are more humiliating for a football team than that. Just wow. Wow!
29. Denver Broncos (2-5)
Last Week: 31 (+2)
The bottom-feeding Broncos beat the Packers in a close match. Yes, it is surprising whenever Denver gets a victory, but what is more confounding is how far the Packers have fallen from grace. I don't believe that Denver is in line to win a bunch more, so they should celebrate whenever they can.
30. Green Bay Packers (2-4)
Last Week: 24 (-6)
Another "yikes" team that could be finding itself in a downward spiral is the Green Bay Packers. Fresh off a loss to the disappointing Denver Broncos, the Packers are in desperate need of answers. Things do not seem to be going as well as they should. The offense is sputtering and the defense is less-than-dominant. If things continue on this path, the Packers could be dueling with the Vikings and the Bears for which team will have the worst record in the division.
31. Arizona Cardinals (1-6)
Last Week: 27 (-4)
The Cardinals are bad. Just because they didn't go winless, doesn't mean that they won't still end up with the NFL's worst record. This week, they managed 10 points. The Cardinals are just as bad as we thought, they just got their inevitable lucky win earlier in the season than we expected. Caleb Williams, anyone?
32. Carolina Panthers (0-6)
Last Week: 32 (-)
