Key players missing from Chiefs-Ravens AFC Championship Game rematch
By Ryan Heckman
Rashee Rice, WR, Kansas City (probably)
There is nothing set in stone regarding wide receiver Rashee Rice's status for Week 1 against the Ravens, but many would assume he isn't going to be there due to a potential suspension. Rice is facing eight charges, in total, stemming from a six-car crash he caused in Dallas last month.
The Chiefs are currently expecting Rice to be suspending somewhere along the lines of half the regular season, which would be a massive loss to this offense. Against the Ravens back in January, Rice was the Chiefs' leading wide receiver, catching eight passes for 46 yards. Travis Kelce led all Chiefs in receiving, with 11 receptions for 116 yards and a score.
Charles Omenihu, DE, Kansas City
Before he suffered a torn ACL in that AFC Championship Game against Baltimore, Charles Omenihu came up with one of the game's biggest plays as he notched a strip-sack on Lamar Jackson early in the second quarter.
Omenihu underwent successful surgery back in late February, and therefore will miss a good chunk of the regular season, if not all of it. Hopefully, for the sake of the Chiefs' Super Bowl hopes, he is able to recover and rehab in a healthy manner so that he can come back and assist in a postseason run. The former fifth-round pick was instrumental in helping the Chiefs attack quarterbacks last year, coming up with 7.0 sacks in 11 games.
