Key players missing from Chiefs-Ravens AFC Championship Game rematch
By Ryan Heckman
The Kansas City Chiefs will officially be opening the NFL's regular season in 2024, headlining a star-studded contest with the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday, September 5.
The two teams last met in the AFC Championship Game just a few months back, with the Chiefs winning 17-10.
Now the back-to-back Super Bowl champions, the Chiefs have as big a target on their backs as ever, and they'll try to get off on the right foot by beating Baltimore yet again.
The Chiefs and Ravens will be missing some notable players in the 2024 season opener
L'Jarius Sneed, CB, Kansas City
One of the biggest names missing from the rematch is former Chiefs cornerback L'Jarius Sneed. Kansas City dealt Sneed to the Tennessee Titans this offseason, but in last year's matchup, Sneed was certainly a talking point.
Everyone remembers the big Zay Flowers stare-down after the rookie wide receiver broke away for a 54-yard gain. That seemed to be a key moment in this game, because just a few plays later, Flowers and Sneed met once again for a turning point. Flowers fumbled near the goal line as Sneed knocked the ball out, essentially wiping away that monstrous gain Flowers had just a couple of minutes earlier.
Now, the Chiefs will roll into this game without Sneed, looking to defend the likes of a more-seasoned Flowers as he preps for his second year as a pro.
