The National Football League has decided to go all-out for its season-opening game for the 2024 regular season and give fans everything they could possibly want. Adam Schefter of ESPN has word that the Baltimore Ravens have been selected as the road opponents for the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 1 to start the year.

The Ravens will visit Arrowhead to face the Chiefs on Thursday, September 5 in a game that will be a rematch of last year's AFC Championship game.

The NFL has selected one of the most anticipated games of the year as the season-opener to kick things off.

There were questions about whether or not the NFL would hold back on an opponent like the Ravens for the sake of a "lesser" opponent knowing all eyes would be on the season-opening game anyway. Last year the Chiefs hosted the Detroit Lions as the league saved some of the higher-profile matchups for later in the season to appease its broadcast partners with those anticipated matchups.

Instead, the Chiefs and Ravens are giving fans everything they could desire in a return to football. The quarterbacks alone—Lamar Jackson and Patrick Mahomes—are enough to sell two stadiums full of tickets. The Ravens also won 14 games a year ago and felt as confident as ever to finally make a Super Bowl as they hosted the conference championship away from K.C. for the first time in five years.

Instead, the Chiefs defense outperformed the more heralded Ravens' unit and put away Jackson and company in a 17-10 win. The Chiefs would go on to win their second consecutive Lombardi Trophy.
