The Chiefs open their preseason slate with a visit to Jacksonville on Saturday evening.

When your favorite team is chasing true historic greatness, such as the Kansas City Chiefs' current pursuit of a first-ever three-peat of consecutive Super Bowl victories, then any length of time without a football game is too long. The anticipation is simply too great.

Well, we're happy to tell you, dear fan, that your wait is over. It might not be official, but a game is a game and the Chiefs are taking their first visit of the preseason schedule on Saturday evening to hang out with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

This game should be fun to get our first glimpses at several new faces on the team, from wide receivers Hollywood Brown and rookie Xavier Worthy to backup quarterback Carson Wentz to punter Matt Araiza. Even more importantly, it should also highight positional battles that are very important for the long road ahead for the Chiefs, especially at backup running back, starting corner, and more.

We're not sure how much each player will play, but Andy Reid stated that each quarterback will get a quarter apiece. That should lead to decent playing time for a lot of the players that fans will want to observe closely. How will Kingsley Suamataia fare at left tackle? How does Felix Anudike-Uzomah looking in this second season? How is a secondary coming together without L'Jarius Sneed?

There are lots of questions without answers at this point, but that's what makes preseason football exciting to watch.
