How much should you expect Patrick Mahomes to play in the preseason?

For Kansas City Chiefs fans (and the majority of NFL fans these days), the excitement of turning on football these days has a lot to do with whether or not Patrick Mahomes will be playing. That can often be hard to tell when it comes to preseason football since the games don't matter, but Chiefs head coach Andy Reid is giving fans at least some of what they want in the team's first exhibition this summer.
The Chiefs are scheduled to visit the Jacksonville Jaguars on Saturday night to kick off the preseason slate. It's an important contest for so many on the team's roster knowing that jobs are up for grabs at several positions, but that can also mean that those with job security will sit out the proceedings.
That's not the case this weekend. Head coach Andy Reid spoke to the media on Wednesday during training camp and stated the team would be playing all four quarterbacks against the Jaguars—one in each quarter.
The presumption here is that fans will want to tune in to the beginning of the game more than anything else if their desire is to catch the first-stringers. Mahomes should play the first quarter with Carson Wentz taking over in the second. That leaves the final two quarters, or the entire second half, for Chris Oladokun and Ian Book to show what they can do.
The Chiefs and Jags kick off at 6:00 p.m. C.T. on Saturday evening at EverBank Stadium
