Matt Miller's 2024 NFL Draft: What We're Hearing, The Draft Scout
The Pick: Xavier Worthy, WR, Texas
Our Grade: B
Our Reaction: The Chiefs get the other half of the dynamic duo from Texas. Xavier Worthy's primary tool is speed. He's a nightmare to cover in man defense and is a risk to score any time he has the ball. Worthy ran multiple 100-meter dash times under 10.65 seconds while in high school. He also ran a sub-4.5 second 40-yard dash time in high school. He's a fluid athlete who tracks the ball well, and he's not just a field stretcher either as he's an impressive route runner. He's had some inconsistency with drops this season and can be moved off his route by larger and more imposing corners.
There will be some dialogue around Worthy's lack of size and if he can play on the outside consistently. He's slightly bigger than breakout rookie Tank Dell for the Houston Texans who has managed to play predominantly on the outside despite his lack of speed. Worthy has lots of ways to win against NFL defenses and has a skill set that would complement the Chiefs' zone-heavy attacking offense nicely.
