Grading the latest 2024 mock drafts for the Kansas City Chiefs

Trevor Sikkema's 2024 NFL Mock Draft, Pro Football Focus
The pick: Adonai Mitchell, WR, Texas
Our Grade: C
Our reaction: Trevor has the Chiefs also taking a receiver this time it's Adonai (AD) Mitchell. It's interesting to see this be such a trendy pick for the Chiefs cause he doesn't profile as a typical Chiefs wide receiver. His running mate Xavier Worthy might be a slightly better fit for Kansas City. Mitchell does have lots of nice elements to his game though and has had a nice season production-wise.
Mitchell is 6'4" and 200 pounds which is a nice NFL frame for a receiver but he could stand to add some weight. He's done a nice job at high-pointing balls and winning contested catch scenarios. He has a nice release off the ball and has been effective after the catch. One concern for the Chiefs might be a lack of separation. He's also failed to showcase breakaway speed or route effectiveness to win routinely.
Right now, the Chiefs just need talent at the receiver position and Mitchell has plenty of it. Kansas City would certainly be better with him on the roster next year. However, it would be nice to see them get back to their bread and butter at receiver: speed and separation. This draft is full of height/weight prospects the Chiefs might be better off waiting till day 2 if this is the path they choose to go.
