The Kansas City Chiefs chapter in Nick Foles' football biography is a short one, but he was a valuable member of the Kingdom all the sme as a former backup to Alex Smith. On Thursday, the veteran quarterback said goodbye to the game of football—at least as a player.

Foles posted a video announcing his retirement on X (formerly Twitter) reflecting back on his accomplishments and updating fans on what's in store for him.

If you can't read the post, Foles goes on to say:

"After much thought and prayer, I've decided to retire from the NFL. It's been an incredible 11-year journey filled with unforgettable moments and amazing people. From being drafted by the Eagles to winning the Super Bowl, every step has been a blessing. I'm excited to spend more time with my family and embrace the next chapter of my life. Thank you to all my teammates, coaches, team staff, and fans for your unwavering support. I am forever grateful."

Chiefs head coach Andy Reid was Foles' first-ever head coach after he was drafted in the third round in 2012 out of Arizona. Foles made his debut that year in relief of an injured Michael Vick and would go on to throw his first touchdown pass to another former Chief in wide receiver Jeremy Maclin.

Foles would stick in Philly for three seasons before being dealt in the Sam Bradford deal with the Rams in the spring of 2015. Following that season, the Rams drafted Jared Goff and granted Foles his release, when he synced back up with Reid to join the Chiefs. For that season with the Chiefs, Foles won the only game he started and appeared in 2 more with 3 touchdowns and zero interceptions.

Foles, who last played with the Indianapolis Colts in 2022, retires as a former Pro Bowler in 2013 and the MVP of Super Bowl LII.
