The Jim Harbaugh effect seems to be real, albeit in a small sample size.

Only three weeks into a new season, the Chargers are 2-1 to start a new year and they're doing so with a physical style that's looked impressive to start the season. They've got that much going for them at least.

We're starting with the good news because there's a lot of bad. Things are bound to get better for the Chargers, but rounding the corner into Week 4, Harbaugh and company are trying to plug leaks in a dam like a cartoon character using its fingers and toes.

Injury after injury after injury has plagued the Chargers in the last week—stop me if this sounds familiar—and it seems as if the Chargers' curse did not leave with Brandon Staley.

Here are the lists of inactive players for the Chiefs and Chargers coming into Week 4.

Star quarterback Justin Herbert is dealing with a high ankle sprain. Starting tackles Rashawn Slater and Joe Alt have missed practice all week with pectoral and knee issues, respectively, and Slater is already designated as out. Pass rusher Joey Bosa has joined them on the bench with a hip injury and is also out.

Plenty of others have missed practice this week or at least been designated as limited. There's wideout Josh Palmer and backup tackle Trey Pipkins, tight end Hayden Hurst and corner Kristian Fulton, lineman Otito Ogbonnia and linebacker Junior Colson.

Even hardcore Chargers fans might have problems telling who is in and out or deciphering the uniform numbers on the field on Sunday when they host the Chiefs.

Speaking of Kansas City, they're looking relatively healthy compared to their counterparts on Sunday, but they will be thinner up front on the edges where the ground game of the Chargers might take advantage. Mike Danna is out of Sunday's game with a calf injury and the team was already down Charles Omenihu coming into the season. It will be interesting to see how the Chiefs fill his role with a mixtures of Malik Herring, Felix Anudike-Uzomah, and even perhaps some Cam Thomas.
