Chiefs vs Bears inactives: Who is in and out for Week 3?
By Matt Conner
As the Kansas City Chiefs prepare to host the visiting Chicago Bears for their scheduled contest in Week 3 of the regular season, the team is looking healthier than earlier this week given the latest pre-game reports. That's good news for the team as they seek to get the offense moving for the first in 2023 after a sputtering start through the first two games.
Both running back Isiah Pacheco and wide receiver are reportedly set to play for the Chiefs after missing practice to varying degrees throughout this week. And they're not the only ones making their way back from injury as tight end Travis Kelce hopes to feel even better after sitting out due to a bone bruise in Week 1 against the Detroit Lions.
Let's take a look at the players who are sitting out of today's Week 3 contest between the Bears and Chiefs.
Unfortunately the Chiefs will be without a significant player on defense with leading tackler Nick Bolton already declared out for the game. Bolton missed every practice this week and will sit this game out with the hopes of returning soon. Wide receiver Richie James was also declared out but he was subsequently placed on injured reserve which opens up a roster spot in his absence for at least four games.
With Bolton out, the Chiefs will lean on Drue Tranquill more as the primary communicator and base starter alongside Willie Gay Jr. and Leo Chenal. The Bears should be the sort of easier opponent against which the Chiefs can afford to give up a bit of margin for the sake of resting Bolton.
