The Kansas City Chiefs returned on Wednesday for another day of training camp activities and practice sessions, and a few new names were added to the list of non-participants in the process. As it turns out, the Chiefs were down a couple of linebackers as they took to their preseason work at Missouri Western State University.

Chiefs head coach Andy Reid addressed the media following practice from St. Joseph, Missouri and stated that Nick Bolton and Isaiah Moore, both young linebackers, were not able to practice on Wednesday. Wide receiver John Ross was also missing, but he was excused ahead of time.

Bolton was out with an illness so he should be expected back in short order without any real worries there. As for Moore, he's dealing with a knee injury which definitely won't help his chances of making the active roster as a longshot already.

The Chiefs will always play it safe with Bolton, whether injured or ill, knowing how central his role is on the field for the defense. As for Moore, he's a very productive linebacker from North Carolina State who had 82 tackles last season, including 15 for a loss, to go with 3 sacks and 3 PBUs—his final season of five for the Wolfpack where he had 53 total starts.

Perhaps if he's injured, the Chiefs would decide to stash him as a long-term project, but Moore's ceiling isn't all that high. However, he excels in specializes roles as a thumper of a linebacker with great instincts and motor and Dave Toub would likely approve of him as a core special teams player.

As for players who've remained out of training camp practices, both Chris Jones and Kadarius Toney were still out as of Wednesday and without any real update of when Chiefs Kingdom can expect to see them back.
