Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Justyn Ross was placed on the commissioner's exempt list Friday afternoon, per Nate Taylor of The Athletic. This comes four days after he was arrested for an alleged incident involving a significant other.

On Tuesday, Ross was charged with domestic battery and criminal property damage of less than $1,000. He pleaded not guilty to both charges and was released on a $2,500 bond. He's due back in court on Dec. 4.

Since Justyn Ross is now on the commissioner's exempt list, he is unable to practice, attend games, or perform any other football-related activity. He is allowed to attend meetings, work out, and will still be paid.

It is unclear how long Ross will be on the list but the NFL will likely keep him on it until they make a decision regarding potential discipline for the alleged incident.

This also means that the Chiefs now have an open spot on their 53-man roster and a corresponding move has not been announced yet.

When linebacker Willie Gay was arrested on similar charges back in January of 2022, he was not placed on the commissioner's exempt list. In November of 2018 when a video of former Chiefs running back Kareem Hunt allegedly committing assault was released, he was placed on the list and was released shortly after.
