Round 4, Pick 122: Isaac Guerendo, RB, Louisville

A fifth-year senior, Isaac Guerendo took off at Louisville this year after struggling to find a role at Wisconsin behind Braelon Allen. Guerendo was one of the top performers at the recent NFL Scouting Combine and posted a near-perfect RAS score, including a 4.33 second time in the 40-yard dash.

Guerendo is an explosive back who goes from zero to 60 in a flash. He's an above-average pass protector for a college back and is a factor in the passing game as well. He's not going to be a hammer in short yardage but he is a playmaker on the outside.

As much fun as it is to say "just draft running backs in the seventh round," the track record of that is not very successful. The Chiefs' offense needs as many playmakers as possible and right now they have a definite need for more explosiveness at running back.

The Chiefs offense has always been at its best when the running backs are a heavy factor in the passing game. Pacheco has developed nicely there but it's not sustainable to have him carry all of the load. Chiefs need running back depth and Guerendo is a classic "get an inch, get a mile runner." He's a home run hitter.
