Four out of five. Just think about that achievement for a second: the Kansas City Chiefs have appeared in four out of the last five Super Bowls.

So few NFL teams can lay claim to such a sustained streak of success, and other NFL franchises, like the Detroit Lions, have never even made it to a Super Bowl. For the Chiefs to be where they are—again—with such a dynamic young core is laughable. It's also frustrating for everyone else in the league.

We know, we know, it's not good to get ahead of ourselves here. We agree that it's good to take things a day at a time and that Super Bowl 58 could easily play out for either side—the Chiefs or 49ers. However, if we're honest, we also believe the Chiefs are going to be right back here again next year because that's just what they do. Better yet, it's who they are.

Let's take a look at the top five reasons why the Chiefs should be set for next year's Super Bowl, too.

1. Patrick Mahomes is the best player in the game

The excuses have run out.

Anyone who has in any way tried to lessen the achievements of Patrick Mahomes in the last year or five has been silenced time and again in literally every conceivable instance or scenario. It's almost laughable at this point.

Mahomes has played at home and on the road. He's played defensive-first teams and survived shootouts with elite quarterbacks. He's taken down coaching legends and bright young minds. He's done it with and without his top wide receiver, with and without a top-shelf defense to call his own, with and without consistency at coordinator. Hell, he's even been single and married or with/without children.

There's not a single NFL record for quarterbacks that's safe from Mahomes's reach at this point. From wins to touchdowns, the Chiefs quarterback could own them all someday. He's already a Hall of Fame player and that was likely true 2 Super Bowls ago. He's now firmly in his prime and learning more about his craft with each passing year. This year's learning curve: that he didn't need to try so hard.

If this sounds obnoxious, it is. Having Mahomes is the ultimate cheat code and he's the top reason why the Chiefs will be back in next year's championship as well.
