The Kansas City Chiefs will partake in their mandatory minicamp next month, and there are several players on the team who need to show up in a big way. Whether these players have recently joined the team and already find themselves on the hot seat or simply haven't lived up to the hype, they're going to need to up the ante during minicamps.

Fortunately, there are opportunities for those players in question to prove themselves over the next few months.

Lucas Niang

In the third round of the 2020 NFL Draft, the Chiefs spent a third-round pick on Lucas Niang. It was an exciting pick at the time, as Niang had been quite successful on TCU's offensive line so it felt like good things were about to come for Niang at the professional level.

Unfortunately, that hasn't been the case. Niang opted out of his rookie year due to COVID-19 and while he started nine games in 2021, those are the only starts he's made ever since. He was relegated to a backup role last year when the Chiefs signed Donovan Smith and Jawaan Taylor to play left and right tackle respectively.

Niang still has a good shot to make the team as a backup option but he's going to need to show those same flashes that made him a third-round pick four years ago. He's running out of time to prove his worth.
