For Kansas City Chiefs fans watching the Sunday Night Football matchup featuring the Baltimore Ravens visiting the Green Bay Packers, it was tough to see familiar faces leave with injuries for the home team. Former Chiefs defensive backs Kamal Hadden and Zayne Anderson were among several Packers injured on the night.
Hadden was carted off the field with a serious lower leg injury that looked brutal—so bad that the broadcast refused to show the replay. The Packers designated him as officially out with an ankle injury after he left the field. Hadden was injured on a play in which he and another Packers defender, Edgerrin Cooper, attempted to tackle Ravens running back Derrick Henry.
Anderson came up limping after kickoff coverage earlier in the game and was also taken back to the locker room on a cart. Anderson was also later ruled out with an ankle injury.
The Packers also watched wide receiver Dontayvion Wicks, defensive tackle Jordan Riley, quarterback Malik Willis, and cornerback Nate Hobbs leave the game with injuries.
Two former Kansas City Chiefs defensive backs were among the numerous injured players for the Packers in Week 17 versus the Ravens.
Hadden initially joined the Chiefs as part of the 2024 NFL Draft class. A sixth-round pick out of Tennessee, Hadden was a day three corner with solid experience at Tennessee and a reputation as a bit of a ballhawk with 6 interceptions and 18 pass deflections in his career.
Hadden joined safety Jaden Hicks as rookie defensive backs joining an already young and deep secondary group, which made it tough for him to make the climb up the depth chart. Trent McDuffie, Jaylen Watson, Nazeeh Johnson, Joshua Williams, and others were already on the roster as the Chiefs tried to sort out the position following the L'Jarius Sneed trade. Chris Roland-Wallace was also signed as a rookie free agent at the time.
Hadden ended up released before the start of his rookie season, but found a new home with the Packers shortly thereafter. He was signed to the practice squad and then elevated for a couple of appearances during his rookie campaign, After signing a futures deal for the 2025 season, Hadden stuck around and has played in 10 total games this season, including the ill-fated game in Week 17 against the Ravens.
As for Anderson, he's a former rookie free agent out of BYU who caught on with the Chiefs following the 2021 NFL Draft. He lasted two seasons on the team's practice squad with occasional promotions to the active roster through the 2022 campaign. From there, he spent the 2023 offseason with the Buffalo Bills only to join the Packers when roster cuts were due.
Since joining Green Bay, Anderson has become a fixture on special teams in 39 total games. He's also earned some scant playing time as a hard-hitting safety when called upon. He has 14 total tackles so far this season.
