Orlando Brown Jr. may have traded in his Kansas City Chiefs red for Cincinnati Bengals orange recently, but he once again finds himself rooting for Andy Reid team to pull out a win.
The Bengals are 9-8 on the season, but they need some help to make it into the postseason. Of chief importance (no pun intended) is the 9-7 Denver Broncos in front of them losing to the Kansas City Chiefs in the final game of their 2024 regular season campaign.
Brown needs a ton of luck to see his team make it to the playoffs, as the Chiefs will be resting many of their biggest names and starting backup Carson Wentz at quarterback. That didn't stop Brown from trying to do everything in his power to ensure the Chiefs can come out on top.
Brown said that he texted many of his old teammates on Sunday morning, begging them for one last victory to send Cincinnati to the playoffs, He even jokingly offered to pay for Aaron Rodgers' next trip to Peru if the Jets can defeat the Miami Dolphins and secure a spot for the Bengals.
Former Chiefs OT Orlando Brown Jr. begs teammates for win to help Bengals
Brown may not be the most beloved figure in Chiefs Kingdom at the moment. While the Bengals may not be historical rivals of Kansas City, leaving Patrick Mahomes to join Joe Burrow left a bit of a bad taste in the mouths of some fans despite his past contributions to the team.
The Bengals can only make the playoffs if the Chiefs take down Denver without some of their best players. In addition, the Jets need to take down the Miami Dolphins in what could very well end up being the final game in the legendary career of Aaron Rodgers.
The Chiefs will have their work cut out for them in this game. Not only has Bo Nix proven to be better than many expected in his rookie season, but the Broncos have one of the best defenses in the league. Wentz moving the ball consistently may not be in the cards for Kansas City in this one.
Brown's playoff fate is out of his hands, which is unusual for a guy who has spent his entire career on winning teams who often coast into the playoffs. He owes his old teammates big time if they are able to wrangle down Nix and keep their division rivals from taking Cincinnati's spot.
