AFC Playoff Standings, Week 15

  1. Kansas City Chiefs (12-1)
  2. Buffalo Bills (10-3)
  3. Pittsburgh Steelers (10-3)
  4. Houston Texans (10-3)
  5. Baltimore Ravens (8-5)
  6. Los Angeles Chargers (8-5)
  7. Denver Broncos (8-5)

In the hunt: Miami Dolphins (6-7) and Indianapolis Colts (6-7).

The Jaguars defeated the Titans in an unwatchable game. The Steelers cruised past the Browns, with Winston throwing two more interceptions. The Dolphins narrowly beat the Jets in overtime. The Raiders lost to the Buccaneers in a pirate-themed matchup.

The Chiefs won yet another unconvincing game, narrowly edging out the Chargers after the game-winning doinked in. Buffalo's defense collapsed in a high-scoring 44-42 loss to the Rams. On Monday Night Football, the Bengals lived to fight another day, outlasting the Cowboys.

A look at the AFC playoff odds

According to Team Rankings, the Chiefs are once again the favorites to secure the AFC's #1 seed with a 72.3% chance. The Bills are behind them at 20.9%, while the Steelers (6.6%) still have a small glimmer of hope.

Despite the loss, the Bills remain the favorites in the AFC to win Super Bowl LIX at 16.1%. The Chiefs are second with an 11.4% chance to win it all. Buffalo is followed by the Ravens at 5.7%, while the Steelers (4.5%), Texans (2.4%), and Chargers (2.2%) fall in line behind them.

Objectively, if this were any other team, their performance in recent weeks suggests they're not a legitimate Super Bowl contender. But these are the Kansas City Chiefs. Until a playoff loss happens, it would be dangerous to count them out, particularly if they secure the #1 seed.

The Chiefs are playing well below their standard. The offensive line, particularly at left tackle, has been struggling, while the pass rush has been notably quiet in recent weeks. Cornerback depth remains an issue, and the play-calling has drawn increasing criticism from fans and analysts alike.

Despite the frustration, this team can turn things around and go on another Super Bowl run. However, they need to address their fundamental issues. If the Chiefs can mitigate these problems, they'll be a tough out in January. Conversely, if these struggles continue, don't expect to see them in New Orleans on February 9.
