Mad Dog Russo's latest take on Chiefs' potential three-peat is comically bad

Sir, this is a Wendy's.

The Kansas City Chiefs have a chance to make history in Super Bowl LIX. A win gives them the first-ever three-peat of the Super Bowl era, adding to the resume of this dynastic run the team is on.

Some might argue that by winning three Super Bowls in a row, the Chiefs could become the greatest dynasty in NFL history. Chris "Mad Dog" Russo is not one of those people arguing that, however. When asked if the Chiefs would be the greatest dynasty in NFL history with a win in Super Bowl LIX, Russo said no.

"I don't think so myself," Russo said on First Take. "The original thought is, when you look at these other title teams, these dynasty teams, Pittsburgh, Green Bay, any team that you want, the Patriots, they're not about just the one player. This Chiefs team is about the quarterback."

Mad Dog Russo says Chiefs are about one, maybe two players

Russo then goes into how the Steelers, Packers, and other dynasties had multiple Hall of Famers on them and weren't just about one or two guys. From there, he mentions that the Chiefs only have three guys who are likely Hall of Famers with Mahomes being one and Travis Kelce and Chris Jones being the other two.

"This is about the quarterback," Russo said and then tells his co-hosts that he thinks Mahomes is the greatest quarterback of all-time. "And it's so much about him more so than about the team. So from that standpoint, I don't look at this as the greatest dynasty in the history of pro football."

It's worth noting that after Russo goes on this particular spiel, both Kimberley Martin and Jeff Saturday are laughing because they know what he's saying is ridiculous, and they're right. Let's break down each little ridiculous thing at a time, shall we?

First, the Chiefs might have been mostly about Mahomes early on during this epic run but that's far from the case now. Hell, it wasn't even a year ago that the Chiefs won their third Super Bowl in five years and did it on the back of their defense. That team's offense was below average and only were in that game because the defense stepped up.

Second, yes, Mahomes, Kelce, and Jones are all going to be Hall of Famers someday but there are plenty of other players on these teams who will have a shot. Harrison Butker will likely be a candidate to make it into Canton someday and while it's still way too early on the younger guys, would it really shock anyone if Trent McDuffie or another stud from this defense made it into the Hall of Fame years down the road? It's too early to say that the aforementioned three will be the only Hall of Famers from these teams.

Lastly, Russo himself even said that Mahomes is the greatest quarterback of all-time. If he's the greatest quarterback of all-time already, then wouldn't his team be the greatest dynasty simply because he's a part of those teams? One would think so.

Chiefs fans can only roll their eyes at comments like these but hey, we're living in a fantasy land right now. The more Super Bowls the Chiefs rack up, the merrier we all are in Kansas City.
