If a team is going to be tasked with playing three games in 11 days, which is what the National Football League is demanding of the Kansas City Chiefs here at the end of the 2024 regular season, then it definitely helps to have some well-rested reinforcements able to help give the roster a slight edge. One look at the inactives list for the day shows that K.C. is getting just that.

The Chiefs are seeing a key player make his way onto the active roster (and onto the active players list) for Week 16, when they host the Houston Texans, after suffering through a shorter week of preparation. Just six days after playing the Cleveland Browns in Week 15, the Chiefs are hosting the Texans in the hopes of winning their 14th game of the year.

To help the cause, the Chiefs are thrilled to be adding the talent and experience of wide receiver Hollywood Brown to the mix for the first time this entire season.

The Chiefs signed Brown to a one-year deal this offseason in a move that was an obvious bet-on-himself contract for the veteran wide receiver. His last season in Arizona hardly went as hoped and it made sense for Brown to align himself with Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes in order to rebuild his market value. The offseason chemistry was obvious and instant, but Brown was lost when he injured his clavicle in the team's opening preseason game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Brown has been out for the entire season since early August, but recent reports stated that he was eyeing a late-season return despite having surgery for the injury and now he's making his debut for the Chiefs with only three games left to go—an ideal amount of time to ingratiate himself with the offense before the games truly matter most.

As for the Chiefs who are inactive on Saturday against the Cleveland Browns, here's the full list.

  • Chamarri Conner, defensive back
  • Ethan Driskell, offensive line
  • C.J. Hanson, offensive line
  • Malik Herring, defensive end
  • D.J. Humphries, offensive tackle
  • Marlon Tuipulotu, defensive interior
  • Joshua Uche, defensive end
